Free online AuDHD test questions, answered
Everything adults usually ask before, during, and after taking the free online AuDHD self-assessment.
What does AuDHD mean?+
AuDHD is the informal term for having both autism (autism spectrum disorder) and ADHD at the same time. It is not a separate diagnosis — it describes the common overlap of the two neurotypes, which research suggests affects the majority of autistic adults.
Is AuDHD a real diagnosis?+
AuDHD is real as a lived experience and a recognised clinical pattern, but it is not its own formal label. Since the DSM-5 in 2013, clinicians can diagnose autism and ADHD together, and both are listed separately in the DSM-5-TR. Our free online AuDHD test screens for that overlap but does not diagnose it.
What's the difference between AuDHD and ADHD?+
ADHD alone centres on inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. AuDHD adds autistic traits — sensory differences, a strong need for routine, and social-communication differences — on top. The two sets of traits interact (and sometimes clash), which is why an AuDHD-specific test can pick up patterns a single-condition screener misses.
What are the signs of AuDHD in adults?+
Common signs include deep hyperfocus that flips into executive shutdown, social exhaustion even after enjoyable events, sensory sensitivities, rejection sensitive dysphoria, and a constant sense of masking. Our homepage lists these signs of AuDHD in adults in more detail.
Is the free online AuDHD test really free?+
Yes. There is no paywall, no premium tier, and no email gate. The free online AuDHD test is funded by occasional contextual sponsorships listed in our footer.
How long does the AuDHD test take?+
Most adults complete the AuDHD self-assessment in about 10 minutes. There are 50 short statements rated on a five-point scale from “Never” to “Very often”.
How is the free AuDHD test scored?+
Each answer adds weight to ADHD-leaning traits, autism-leaning traits, or the shared AuDHD cluster. Reverse-worded items are scored in the opposite direction. Your result shows where your responses land on each axis and what that pattern tends to mean — it is indicative, not diagnostic.
How accurate is an online AuDHD self-assessment?+
A self-screen captures patterns, not diagnoses. An elevated result means your experience aligns with common AuDHD traits, but only a qualified clinician can confirm autism, ADHD, or both with validated tools such as the ADOS-2, RAADS-R, or DIVA-5.
Is the AuDHD test useful for women and late-diagnosed adults?+
Very. Women and late-identified adults often mask heavily, so single-condition screeners frequently miss them. Because an AuDHD lens looks at how autism and ADHD camouflage each other, it tends to surface traits that years of anxiety or depression labels have hidden.
Is my data private?+
Your answers are processed in your browser. We do not require an account, and we do not store individual responses linked to you.
Can the AuDHD test diagnose me?+
No. The free online AuDHD test is an educational self-screen. Only a qualified clinician can diagnose autism, ADHD, or AuDHD.
What if I already have an ADHD or autism diagnosis?+
The AuDHD test is especially useful in that case — it highlights the second neurotype's traits that may have been overshadowed by your existing diagnosis.
Can I retake the AuDHD test?+
Absolutely. Many adults retake the free online AuDHD self-assessment after stressful periods, hormonal changes, or therapy to see how their pattern shifts.
Is the AuDHD test suitable for teenagers?+
It is written for ages 16 and up. Younger teens should take it with a trusted adult and discuss results with a clinician.
Where do I go after the AuDHD test?+
Save or screenshot your results and share them with a GP, psychiatrist, or specialist neurodevelopmental clinic to discuss formal assessment.
